Crypto / digital-asset gains
Work out the capital gains tax on your crypto and NFT disposals, disposal by disposal, under rules that are still waiting for guidance on how to value them.
Your disposals never leave your device. This calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us, logged, or stored — there is no server to send it to.
Disposal 1
Recorded for your records. The date decides which year's rules apply — set the tax year above to match.
Enter the naira value at the date of the disposal. We do not fetch exchange rates and will not guess them.
Which cost to use when you bought in tranches — first-in-first-out, average cost, or a specific lot — is exactly what the NRS has not yet said.
Your other income
Leave at 0 if these gains are your only chargeable income.
Add a disposal on the left — proceeds, cost and fees in naira. Your gain and the tax on it appear here, disposal by disposal, with every step of the calculation shown.
What this tool cannot tell you
Digital assets are chargeable to capital gains tax from 2026, and the gain stacks on top of your other chargeable income at personal income tax band rates. That much is in the Act. What is not in the Act is how to value a disposal, which cost to match against it when you bought the same coin at ten different prices, or what happens to your losses. Those answers are meant to come from the NRS and have not. We have used the arithmetic the Act implies and shown you every step of it, so that when guidance lands you can see precisely which line it changes. Anyone showing you a confident number for crypto tax today is showing you an assumption with a naira sign in front of it.
